RSJ - Steel Beam Fitting - Northamptonshire

This was a project in Corby where the client wanted to remove some internal walls to make her kitchen and dining area more spacious and 'open plan.'

Ceiling joists laid into the load-bearing walls above had to be propped up using steel 'Acrows', the walls carefully removed then the steels inserted.

The steel had to be packed up using a non-combustibe material and filled with sand & cement mortar.

All steel joists had to be double-clad with 12.5mm plaster board with new plaster skim finish to offer 1 hr fire protection.

A structural engineer was involved and when the beams were inserted, they were checked, approved and passed by Corby Building Control.

The end result...

An open-plan kitchen diner that offered more space
to entertain guests.
